What Clients And Families Say

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HIT ROCK BOTTOM

Things Can Look Fine on the Outside While Becoming Harder to Manage Privately

Addiction does not always look like someone losing everything.

You may still be working, parenting, running a business or meeting your responsibilities. Other people may have no idea what is happening.

But behind the scenes, there may be more secrecy. More regret. More promises that this will be the last time. More energy going into controlling the behaviour, hiding it or repairing the consequences afterwards.

You may even be wondering whether the problem is really “bad enough” to justify getting help.

It does not need to reach crisis point before you have a conversation about it.

Sometimes the most useful time to address the pattern is before everything falls apart.

THE BELIEF SHIFT

Stopping Is One Thing.

Understanding Why You Keep Going Back Is Another.

Many people looking for addiction support already understand the consequences of their behaviour and what it’s costing them. They may have stopped before, sometimes for days, weeks or even longer, only to find themselves returning to the same pattern when stress, pressure or familiar triggers come back.

The harder question is often not whether someone can stop, but why the behaviour keeps returning. For some people, it may have become a way to switch off, manage anxiety, numb emotional discomfort, escape shame, create temporary relief or cope with feelings they do not yet know how to handle differently.

That is why simply removing the behaviour may only address part of the problem. At The Whitehaven Clinic, we look beyond what someone is doing to explore what may be driving it, including the individual patterns, triggers and emotional responses that can keep the cycle going.

When you begin to understand those patterns more clearly, recovery can move beyond another promise to stop and toward learning healthier, more effective ways to respond when the same pressures return.

WHAT MAKES WHITEHAVEN DIFFERENT

Recovery Should Not Be One-Size-Fits-All

Two people can struggle with exactly the same addictive behaviour for completely different reasons. Their personalities, underlying root cause triggers, emotional pressures, relationships and the role the behaviour plays in their life can all be different, so their recovery should not automatically look identical.

The Whitehaven Clinic provides private, one-to-one addiction recovery built around the individual rather than forcing every client through the same generic formula. The work may explore personality-based triggers, emotional patterns, warning signs, relationships, coping behaviours and the circumstances that keep the cycle going.

The aim is not simply to tell someone what they should stop doing. It is to help them better understand themselves, recognise what may be driving the behaviour and develop healthier, more accountable ways of responding when real life happens again.

THIS IS NOT SIMPLY ABOUT
“JUST STOPPING”

It is about understanding the pattern behind the behaviour and working on what needs to change underneath it.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

A More Individual Approach To Addiction Recovery

01

Understand What Has Been Happening

We believe that you don’t have an addiction issue, you have a ‘my life’s not working’ issue.

This means looking at what has been happening, what has already been tried, the underlying root cause triggers for the problematic or addictive behaviours and what to do instead of.

02

Identify Your Individual Patterns

Addiction develops for different reasons. Whitehaven explores the person’s individual personality-based triggers, emotional pressures, behavioural patterns and treatment needs before developing an individualised treatment plan using a structured Addiction Recovery Process Program.

03

Learn What To Do Differently

Understanding the pattern is important, but insight alone is not enough.

Recovery also involves learning healthier ways to respond when stress, triggers and difficult emotions return. It also requires a plan to move forward towards long-term recovery.

04

Apply It To Real Life

Whitehaven’s day rehabilitation approach allows clients to work on recovery while still navigating everyday life. That means the strategies being developed can be applied within the same work, family, relationship and personal responsibilities where those changes ultimately need to hold up.

RECOVERY THAT FITS REAL LIFE

Serious Support Does Not Always Mean Disappearing From Your Life

One of the biggest barriers to treatment can be the belief that getting serious help automatically means leaving work, children, a business or other responsibilities for residential rehabilitation.

For some people, residential treatment may be appropriate. But for others, Whitehaven provides a life-saving alternative.

A STRUCTURED DAY REHABILITATION PROGRAM

Our structured day rehabilitation program in Perth offers intensive, individual support while allowing suitable clients to remain connected to the responsibilities and relationships that are part of everyday life.

FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE TRIED BEFORE

If Previous Treatment Has Not Lasted, It May Be Worth Asking What Was Missing

You may have already tried counselling, detox, meetings, a residential program or simply making promises to yourself and the people around you that things would change. There may even have been periods where it seemed like things were getting better, only for the same cycle to return.

That does not mean that change is out of reach. Sometimes previous treatment may have focused mainly on stopping or controlling the visible behaviour without going far enough into the individual patterns, triggers and emotional pressures underneath it. In other cases, the approach may not have felt personally relevant, or it may have been difficult to maintain alongside work, family and everyday responsibilities.

Whitehaven was built around the belief that recovery needs to make sense for the individual, not just the diagnosis.

If previous attempts have not created the change you hoped for, the answer may not be to keep trying the same thing harder. It may be worth looking at a different approach.

PRIVACY

Private, One-to-One Support

For many of our clients, privacy is one of the biggest concerns when considering addiction support, and it can be a major reason for delaying that first conversation. This is especially true for professionals, parents, business owners and anyone concerned about the impact treatment could have on their family, career or reputation.

The Whitehaven Clinic provides confidential, one-to-one support designed to protect your privacy and dignity throughout the process.

Your information is handled in line with the clinic’s privacy procedures and is only shared where appropriate for your care, with your consent, or where there is a legal or safety obligation to do so.

Before treatment begins, the team can clearly explain how confidentiality, record keeping and any limits to privacy are managed, so you know exactly what to expect.

FOR FAMILIES

When Addiction Starts Controlling More Than One Person’s Life

Sometimes the person looking for help is not the one struggling with the addictive behaviour. You may be their partner, parent, adult child, sibling or another family member who has gradually found their own life becoming organised around the next crisis.

That can mean constantly checking, rescuing, lending money, questioning whether you are being told the truth, making excuses, keeping the peace and hoping that the latest promise will finally be the one that lasts. Over time, this can become exhausting and can leave the whole family feeling as though they are living around the addiction.

ADDICTION CAN AFFECT THE WHOLE FAMILY

Whitehaven recognises that addiction can affect far more than the individual displaying the behaviour. It can place enormous pressure on relationships, trust and the wider family dynamic.

If you are researching help for someone you care about, you can also begin with a private conversation about what has been happening, what you are concerned about and what support options may be available.

AN AWARD-WINNING APPROACH TO INDIVIDUAL RECOVERY

The Whitehaven Clinic was founded by Tabitha Corser around a belief that addiction treatment needed to look beyond the visible symptoms and instead focus on treating the underlying root cause of the addictive behaviour.

That approach has since received national recognition.

The awards matter to us because they recognise the work behind the program. But the reason Whitehaven exists is the same as it was at the beginning: to help each client understand what is driving their individual pattern and work toward meaningful change in real life.

FAQ

Do I Have To Hit Rock Bottom Before Getting Help?

No. Someone can still be working, parenting and functioning in many parts of life while recognising that a pattern is becoming harder to control.

You do not need to wait for everything to collapse before asking what your options are.

Is This Residential Rehab?

Whitehaven offers structured day rehabilitation rather than requiring every client to enter a residential environment. This means that you attend a 90 minute session daily for the first three weeks (Monday to Friday), with subsequent appointments tailored off over a 12 to 14 week period and a monthly maintenance program.

Is The Program One-to-One?

Yes. Whitehaven’s core approach is individualised based on your own individual treatment needs and delivered one-to-one.

What Addictions Do You Work With?

Whitehaven works with people affected by alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, porn and other addictive behaviours.

What If I Have Tried Treatment Before?

Previous treatment not lasting does not automatically mean there are no other options.

We take an individual approach that explores the patterns and underlying root-cause triggers associated with the behaviour.

Will I Have To Stop Working?

Not necessarily. One of the advantages of a day rehabilitation model is that suitable clients may be able to undertake structured recovery while continuing to manage important work and family responsibilities.

We highly recommend that you take annual leave for the first three weeks so that you can focus on your recovery, but this is not essential.

We also tailor programs around FIFO and other work or parenting commitments.

Feel free to call us to discuss what is appropriate for your individual circumstances.

Is The Support Private?

Yes. Whitehaven provides confidential, one-to-one support designed to protect your privacy. No-one will know that you are attending a program with us unless you tell them.

Your information is handled according to the clinic’s privacy procedures, subject to relevant legal and safety obligations.

What Happens When I Contact Whitehaven?

The first step is a confidential conversation with our Client Services & Intake Coordinator.

You can discuss what has been happening at a high level, what has already been tried and what you are looking for help with.

You do not need to make every treatment decision before getting in touch.

YOU DO NOT NEED ANOTHER PROMISE THAT

“THIS TIME WILL BE DIFFERENT”

You Need To Understand What May Need To Be Different This Time.

Whether you are looking for yourself or someone you care about, the first step does not have to be dramatic.

It can simply be a private conversation.

Talk to our Client Services & Intake Coordinator about what has been happening and we can discuss whether our individual approach to addiction recovery may be appropriate for you or your loved one.
